Peridot is one of the few gemstones that comes in only one color. The intensity and tint of the green depends on how much iron is contained in the crystal, so the color of individual gems can vary from yellow-green to olive green.

Commercial apatite is a common mineral but gem quality is very rare. It comes in a variety of colors including yellow, green and blue. The aqua blue variety that is mined in Brazil is one of the most desired colors. It is very close in color to Paraiba blue tourmaline.
