This fabulous Sterling Silver Scottish Citrine brooch is Circa 1960.
Set with a large natural tested Citrine in the centre.
The name Citrine is derived from the colour - the yellow of lemon. Citrine is also known as Gold Topaz and is the birthstone for November.
Ancient cultures believed that placing a Citrine on the forehead of an elder would increase his psychic power.
Adorned with fabulous all round Scottish workmanship with celtic designs engraved around the gallery.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her trips to Scotland. From the mid 1800's Queen Victoria frequently visited Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral.
Hallmarked on the reverse including the initials RA.
